Polyphemus Moth Print

A beautiful print of a watercolor painting I did of a polyphemus moth. What a pleasure it was to paint this unique and lovely creature.

When I was painting its markings, I had the distinct feeling that not only was I looking at it, but it was looking right back at me.

Lovely soft brown tones with pastel-colored markings. I tried to capture its soft, fuzzy texture with my paintbrush strokes.

The perfect print for an insect lover or nature enthusiast.

I spend ages on my prints making sure that they are as close as possible to my original watercolors. I produce them in my studio on my Epson R1900 printer.

All monitors are slightly different so the colors appearing on your screen may vary from those of the print. In general, the colors of my prints are more delicate than what you are probably seeing on your screen.

My reference for this painting was a beautiful photo taken by my friend Amanda Nelson McNelly. I used it with permission. When not taking photos of moths, Amanda raises oodles of children and pets, along with making the Long Winter Farm line of gorgeous soaps, lip balms and perfume oils.
